The Commission responded to a report of alleged election administrative violations submitted by the Coalition of Communities Concerned with Women’s Representation to the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). The Commission expressed its views through the delivery of expert testimony. Based on this testimony, the Commission confirmed that: 1. Women’s participation and representation in the election is a part of human rights because it is related to women’s rights and civil and political rights. 2. The affirmation policy for women in the implementation of elections in Indonesia is a part of efforts to implement the principle of non-discrimination which aims to strengthen the fulfillment and protection of women’s human rights. Efforts to anticipate the implementation of elections were also carried out by the Secretariat of Komnas HAM RI Representatives through a series of activities to strengthen the intersection between elections and human rights, as shown in the following table: Table 2.1. The purpose of this monitoring is to prevent the loss of people’s voting rights due to potential conflicts and obstacles to the distribution of election equipment. Papua Province Focus Group Discussions with various themes surrounding Elections, such as Young Voters, Human Rights Friendly Elections. Apart from that, election preparations are also monitored by election organizers. West Kalimantan Province Dissemination through mass media and focus group discussions with the theme of Fulfilling the Constitutional Rights of Marginalized Groups and Vulnerable Groups. West Sumatra Province Monitoring the readiness of correctional institutions and state detention centers ahead of the 2024 elections.
