Article 6- Women with Disability Current status 14. According to the results of two recent surveys7 conducted by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled (KEAD) and the Statistics Korea (KOSTAT), only 22.4 percent of women with disability (229,000) are economically active, while 53.4 percent of women population (11,911,000) are actively engaged in economic activities. The statistics showed similar trend on the unemployment and employment-to-population ratio. In comparison to the general women population’s unemployment rate (3.7 percent) and employment to population ratio (51.5 percent), the statistics of women with disability was lower with 6.8 percent and 20.8 percent, respectively. 15. The Ministry of Health and Welfare’s 2014 Survey of Disabled Persons states that 8.2 percent of women with disability experience discrimination and domestic violence inflicted by family members. The verbal abuse was rated with highest occurrence (55.8 percent), followed by the psychological abuse (20 percent). The main perpetrator of abuse was indicated as spouse (37.6 percent), while there were incidences where offspring (19.1 percent) or sibling (18.6 percent) were marked as the perpetrator of domestic violence. 16. According to the 2014 survey of Disabled Persons, the main and strongest cause behind the withdrawal of persons with disabilities from school is financial situation (70.1 percent). While 3.8 percent of men with disabilities dropped out of school by the opposition of his family members, higher incidence was observed for women with disabilities (21.1 percent). List of possible inquiries for consideration 17. Provide statistical data on the employment-to-population ratio of women with disability, and the information on legal, administrative and financial supports delivered by the government for the last 5 years to improve employment situation for women with disabilities. 18.
