On 22 December a Woman who went to cox’s Bazar with her husband and child was gang raped in cox’s Bazar. In the same time, a pregnant woman was raped in Bandarban. On 19 December, a house wife was gang raped in a running bus in Narayanganj. On 14 December a student of Dhaka University Elma Chowdhury Meghla died with sign of torture in her body in Banani, Dhaka. Her Family alleged that she died of domestic violence. 32 2.7 Child Torture Today’s Children are tomorrow’s future. They will lead the world in future. Like previous years, incidents of child torture, rape and murder were noticed. In Joypurhat a student of class 03 was tortured for allegation of theft and this video became viral in social media. In Gazipur, 2.5 years old Child Mariam died by the torture of step mother Alifa Akter. NHRC believes that, this type of crime has increased due to degradation of social and humane values. Ensuring Exemplary punishment for the perpetrators is mandatory to prevent violation of child rights.
