MESSAGE I AM PLEASED that CHR will finally have its own compendium of 'Anti-VAW Laws, intended to be used in the discharge of our various functions as national human rights institution and especially as the Gender Ombud in the country. I would like to particularly note that while this new mandate in the Magna Carta of Women closely relates to and complements our role as human rights commission, it is imperative that in the performance of our new additional responsibilities, we consciously aim for the achievement of gender equality and the elimination of discrimination of women. We should ascertain that in the determination of merits of each complaint for gender violation discrimination, based violence cases for example, we are guided by the rule of law and human rights principles of bringing perpetrator.
