HUMANITY AMIDST CONFLICTS Internally Displaced Persons and children in armedconflicts. The theme ofthe activity was: “Proteksyon ng Mamamayan, Kalayaan ng Bayan”. This was attended by 130 participants coming from the governmentandcivil society organizations. Before the Kite Flying proper, Mr. Rolando Ongkiko, President of the Kite Flying Association of the Philippines, gave a briefer and some techniques on howtofly the kites successfully. With that, everyone wasable tofly the kites and enjoyedas well. The main focusof the event wasthe flying of the giant motherkite. Commissioners Cecilia Rachel Quisumbing, Jose Manuel Mamauag and Ma. Victoria Cardonaledtheflying of the motherkite, together with the convenors of CSI-IHL. The giant motherkite and the smaller kites were successfully flown in varyingaltitudes. Some flew higherwhile others, only momentarily, and waved down. The mother kite had this message: “IHL:60 YearsofProtection Amidst Conflicts”.
