helpline 16108. Besides, hon’ble Chairman gives instruction to take suo moto complaints after seeing media reports on human rights violation and suo moto complaints are taken accordingly. From reports published in newspaper, online news agencies NHRC officials are daily monitoring human rights violation. From 16 newspapers monthly/ annual human rights situation monitoring report is being prepared. NHRC received 962 complaints in 2022; among which 598 (62%) are already disposed. It should be mentioned that in 2022 among 364 pending files, 01 are of 2012, 06 are of 2013, 04 are of 2014, 04 are of 2015, 05 are of 2016, 08 are of 2017, 16 are of 2018, 18 are of 2019, 18 are of 2020, 38 are of 2021 and 246 are of 2022. Chapter 04: Remarkable activities of NHRC in 2022 This chapter discusses the institutional capacities of the Commission in terms of maintaining responsibilities in accordance with NHRC Act 2009. Creating awareness on human rights is one of the core duties of the Commission. In 2022 one of the remarkable activities of the Commission was to submit a report of the National Inquiry Committee and send it to the concerned authorities/ ministries. Seminars/ discussion on various issues including peaceful repatriation of Rohingyas were held. Besides NHRC Participated in various international seminars/ conferences. Chapter 05: Commission’s Present Challenges & Way Forward In this chapter, Commission’s challenges along with successes have been discussed. Huge expectation has been created through the Commission’s implemented activities in 2022. Despite lots of success Commission is facing many challenges. One among these is NHRC Act itself.
