NCHR found that out of the 173 women housed in the jail, 137 were under trial at the time of the visit. Similarly, 192 out of 194 juveniles at the prison were also awaiting trial. CENTRAL JAIL MIRPURKHAS, 14TH JULY 2022 NCHR’s team visited the barracks, medical dispensary, medicine warehouse, kitchen, meeting area, of the prison. The prison has the capacity to hold 1000 prisoners and was built to house male prisoners only. At the time of the visit, there were 658 inmates of which 323 were under trial. During the visit, NCHR noted that there was no skill development and recreational centre, but overall prisoners were satisfied with the facilities, food, and medical dispensary. MEETINGS WITH GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS & INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES:    Regional Office Sindh representatives and civil society members had a meeting with Mr. Ismail Raho, Minister of Climate Change on the subject of Sindh Environmental Council activation and establishment of advisory committees for various sectors. Regional Office Sindh and WAF team members, Shireen Asad and Aneeta Panjani, had a meeting with Mr. Mahar, IG Sindh, on the subject of the Nazim Jokhio case. IG Sindh, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, shared that police had submitted challan to DPP. Regional Office Sindh participated in the UNDP program on SDG 5 organised by NCSW. 81
