International Transgender Day of Visibility The transgender community in Pakistan often faces discrimination and violence, and is not afforded basic human rights. In recent months there has been an exponential rise in crimes and hate speech against transgender persons which is impacting their safety and well-being. To highlight the issues faced by the trans community and to encourage tolerance amongst society, NCHR ran a social media campaign on the rights of transgender persons which collected video testimonials from transgender rights activists and shared excerpts from the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018. Even with legislation at the federal level, this campaign voiced the gaps in implementation and stressed the importance of full participation and integration of the transgender community in society. International Day to End Corporal Punishment According to the Pakistani child rights group Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC), corporal punishment causes up to 35,000 children in Pakistan to drop out of school every year.
