HUMAN RIGHTS MODULE FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL 1. Human rights are commonly understood as rights naturally belonging to human beings. 2. Human rights are universal and therefore belong to all human beings equally, fairly and without discrimination. 3. Human rights are rights we have simply because we were born as humans. 4. No one shall be enslaved in any manner. 5. A treaty is an agreement made by countries and it is bound by specific regulations. 6. An international treaty can be known as a covenant, charter, protocol, convention and agreement. 7. The government must protect children from all forms of abuse by their parents or others. 8. Parents have the responsibility to give their children a proper upbringing. 9. Children have the right to express their opinions freely and their views should be considered by adults. 10. Children in conflict with the law have the right to basic guarantees as well as legal assistance and defence. 11. All human beings have the right to rest, recreation and leave from their work. 12. All human beings have the right to nationality where they live. 13. All human beings have the right to receive a salary commensurate with the work performed. 14. CRC is the abbreviation for Convention on the Rights of the Child. 15. All human beings have the right to life, freedom and personal security. 120
