Children in the entertainment or recreational business 1) Current situation 107. With the rapid growth of the entertainment or recreational business, children are taking part in all of the media areas and cultural sectors, including TV, radio, musicals, films and advertisements. Recently, a growing number of non-entertainer children make their appearance in this business. 108. As mentioned before, the right to education of child entertainers is not fully protected. Moreover, according to the interview-based survey of 103 child entertainers conducted by the Youth Policy Analysis & Evaluation Center in 2010, 35.9% of the respondents worked 8 hours or longer a day; 10.3% worked 40 hours or longer a week; and 41.0% worked nighttime or holiday hours. Another concern is that they are increasingly regarded as sexual objects. The survey found that 10.2% had ever 'overexposed' their body parts, 60% of whom were forced to do so. It was also revealed that they suffered insomnia (64.3%) and took medication for depression (14.3%). 2) Questions 109. As regards the campaign and training of the Optional Protocol on Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, the Periodic Report states that the Government has developed training materials, enhanced sex education at school and distributed sex education textbooks to schools, conducted campaign programs to prevent sexual abuse and trained sex education teachers (paras. 536~539).
