Students got back their certificates JAMAKON protected the right of a through the intervention of Migrant worker JAMAKON Thirty-Four students of Bangladesh Textile Engineering College (BTEC), Tangail Session 2013-2014 lodged a complaint with JAMAKON alleging that since they were admitted to B.Sc. Textile Engineering course in DUET, Gazipur. Therefore, they wanted to cancel their BTEC admission and get their certificates back from the BTEC authority. However, BTEC authority had not returned their certificates and marksheets. JAMAKON requested the Deputy Commissioner, Tangail and the Registrar of Dhaka University to take necessary steps. The Register of Dhaka University informed JAMAKON that on the basis of the letter of JAMAKON, the DEAN’s Committee issued an order to the concerned BTEC authority to return the certificates and mark-sheet of the said 34 students. Police station registered case of Nazrul Islam because of the intervention of JAMAKON Mr. S. Nazrul Islam, a human rights defender of Sheloydoho, Kustia lodged a complaint with JAMAKON alleging that some criminal in his locality apprehended him and threatened to murder him. In view of the inaction of the local police, he lodged a complaint with JAMAKON. JAMAKON took the matter into its consideration and asked the Officer in Charge of Kumarkhali Thana to take necessary action. The Officer in Charge of Kumarkhali Thana in a subsequent correspondence informed that they had made an entry of the matter in their General Diary and the investigation officer converted it into a non-FIR case bearing no. 25/2014 dated- 11/08/2014 under section- 107/11. The case is now pending before the Executive Magistrate Court, Kumarkhali. Mr. Mojammel Haque, lodge a complaint alleging that he had been cheated and harassed by a recruiting agent. The recruiting agent sent the victim to Iraq fraudulently, promising that he would be employed there. However, having failed to find any job in Iraq he came back with the help of Bangladesh Embassy. After receiving this complaint JAMAKON forwarded it to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. The said Ministry inquired into the matter and cancelled the license of the recruiting agent. JAMAKON took steps corporal punishment against BLAST lodged a complaint stating that a student of class 5 of Keratul Kuran Cadet Scheme Madrasa had been brutally beaten by his teacher and was admitted to Upazilla health complex for treatment. JAMAKON asked UNO, Patharghata, Barguna to look into the matters as well as to take legal step against the teacher. The UNO informed JAMAKON that the taka 5000.00 was realized from the teacher and handed over to the student for treatment. The teacher had also been suspended. JAMAKON took action torture in police custody against Mr. Md. Mansur Manur alleged that he was taken to police custody although there was no formal allegation against him. In the police custody, he was tortured physically. JAMAKON asked the concerned authority to investigate into the matter and take legal action against the alleged police personnel if appropriate.
