4.2 Some successful intervention of NHRC

Victim got protection due to NHRC intervention
On August 14, 2016 of The Daily Star newspaper published a report titled “Housewife
tied to tree, tortured over trivial matter" on
the report it was stated that a domestic goat of
Ms Malati Shil, wife of Ratan Kuman Shil of
Magura Upazila spoiled a vegetable garden
of neighbor. On this issue, some local miscreants forcibly thrown Ms Malati out of his
house to one kilometer and tortured brutally
by tying her to a tree.
NHRC took suo moto on the matter and asked
Deputy Commissioner of Magura to submit a
report after investigation. The report stated
that a case has already been filed before
Magura Police Station and 3 accused were
arrested and Police Super, Magura had been
instructed by NHRC to consider getting of
justice by the victim.

Public Service delivery ensured
Mr. X complained before NHRC that Mr. Y
registered a heba declaration deed at Raojan
Sub-Registry office. After being well
informed about the deed, the complainant
applied through an advocate for the certified
copy of the deed but he didn’t get it. Later
when he applied before District Sub registry
office for the same certified copy, that office
ordered to give it. But, the concerned sub
registry office did not provide the certified
copy.
NHRC asked district registrar to submit a
report after investigation. The office submitted a report mentioning that Mr. X acknowledged in writing that he got the certified copy.

Mr. X of Kalinagar village in Sylhet district,
alleged before the Commission that some
rootless families of Chailakhel area were
evicted in 2007 who had been living there for
