Discussion was held around the rights given to mine laborers by Mining Act and Member NCHR expressed her concerns about violations of rights at mining sites, highlighting many gaps in Mining Act, 1923. Member Balochistan NCHR offered the pro-bono services of senior lawyers for drafting the new Act. Mr. Pir M. Kakar General Secretary Balochistan, Pakistan Worker Federation (PWF) visited NCHR Regional Office Balochistan, and held a meeting with Member Balochistan to discuss a work plan regarding assessment of psychosocial impacts on the families of mine workers. Member Balochistan called a meeting to review the Balochistan Home-Based Worker Act 2022. All Pakistan Labor Federation (APLF) Balochistan convened a two-day training of coal mine workers at Metro Hotel Quetta, to improve working conditions at mining sites, safety and health parameters, and awareness of their rights as mine workers. Member Balochistan was invited as a guest speaker to sensitise coal mine workers regarding their basic human rights provided in their Act. Member Balochistan NCHR participated in a provincial consultation on gap analysis on safety and health in Mines Convention 176, 1995 organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) at Serena Hotel, Quetta. According to the recommendations of Convention 176, gaps were identified in the Mining Act, 1923 by the participants. PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES’ RIGHTS:     Member Balochistan participated in a disability inclusion dissemination workshop organised by UN Women and World Food Program (WFP) to discuss the issues, challenges, and concepts for the prosperity of disabled person in Balochistan. Attended one-day training on the essential services providers on the localisation of the modules on women with disabilities organized by UN Women. Breaking Barrier Women and Serena Hotel celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Serena Hotel on 3rd December 2022. Member Balochistan participated in this event as the Guest of Honour. A play was presented to highlight the issues and challenges faced by persons with disabilities in daily life. Member Balochistan distributed relief packages to persons with disabilities received from UNDP Islamabad for at-risk populations on 28th December 2022 at NCHR Regional Office Quetta. REFUGEE’S RIGHTS  An Afghan refugee couple visited NCHR Regional Office Quetta and filed a complaint against UNHCR regarding the delay of their registration. NCHR wrote a letter to UNHCR to 78
