Awareness Campaign on Afghan Prisoners in Central Prison, Karachi Following a visit to Central Jail Karachi, wherein NCHR and LAS met and interviewed the 139 Afghan women and 165 children incarcerated under Foreigners Act, NCHR ran an awareness campaign based on its report titled, The Plight of Afghan Refugees Incarcerated in Central Prison, Karachi. The campaign advocated that the Sindh Government, in consultation with the Federal government invoke Section 14(B) of the Foreigners Act and allow the women and children to return back to Afghanistan voluntarily during the pendency of their incarceration. The campaign was run in collaboration with the Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners. 39
