HUMAN RIGHTS MODULE FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL Implementation steps Activity 1. Ask the students to cut out pictures of males and females from magazines, newspapers or catalogues. 2. The students glue the pictures of the males and females on two separate sheets of paper according to gender and tape them on the wall of the classroom. 3. Give 3-4 sheets of A4 paper and a marker pen to each student. 4. Distribute the list of characteristics to the students (Appendix 1). Give them time to think of the characteristics that they associate with males and females, and ask them to write these down on the sheets of paper given. Then ask them to stick the words next to the appropriate pictures. If necessary, provide examples of characteristics in Appendix 1. 5. Ask the students to explain why they chose those characteristics. Reflection: At the end of the game, give the students room to self-reflect on the activity. Why do we always associate those characteristics with either males or females? Are those characteristics always true for males and females? Why?
