DEFINITION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
Human rights are rights that exist for every human being,
regardless of nationality, place of residence, gender, race or
ethnicity, colour, religion, language, or any other status. Every
human being has an equal right to enjoy human rights without
discrimination. These rights are interrelated, interdependent
and indivisible.

Section 2 of SUHAKAM Act: “human
rights” refers to fundamental
liberties as enshrined in Part II of
the Federal Constitution.
Section 4 (4) SUHAKAM Act:
For the purpose of this Act, regard
shall be had to the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights 1948 to
the extent that it is not inconsistent
with the Federal Constitution.
Adopted by the United Nations on 10
December 1948, listing 30 articles
concerning human rights. Malaysia
is one of the 193 UN member states.
