Scheme of Strengthening Education among Scheduled Tribe (ST) Girls in Low Literacy Districts: Launched by Ministry of Tribal Affairs in 2008, the scheme aims to bridge the gap in literacy levels between the general female population and tribal women. The scheme facilitates 100% enrolment of tribal girls in the identified Districts or Blocks, more particularly in Naxal affected areas and in areas inhabited by Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs), and reducing drop-outs at the elementary level by creating the required ambience for education. 20. Saakshar Bharat: A centrally sponsored scheme of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), in September 2009. It aims to further promote and strengthen Adult Education, especially of women, by extending educational options to those adults who have lost the opportunity of access to formal education 21. The National Mission for Empowerment of Women: was launched by the Government of India in 2010 with the aim to strengthen overall processes that promote all-round development of women.
