the nature and scope of the obligation of non-state actors, including
international financial institutions and trans-national corporations, to protect
and promote the right to education.
Summary
•
The realisation of the right to education requires concerted efforts by individuals, their
families and their communities and the involvement of all of society, including the private
sector, the mass media and religious institutions.
•
International organisations and agencies and regional bodies also have a vital role to play,
as do trans-national corporations, NGOs and other organisations.
•
States are required to put in place laws and mechanisms to ensure that no one within the
reach of that State’s jurisdiction violates the right to education.
