• human rights and the establishment of a regional human rights mechanism at the SAARC conferences and summits; and Convening annual consultation of the National Institutions in the Region to strengthen inter-NHRI collaboration and cooperation to promote and protect human rights, and for fulfilling the above objectives. • • • • JAMAKON Drafted its 2nd Strategic Plan for Year 2016-2020 • Developing Strategic Plan is the most important roadmap of JAMAKON for its institutional development. The 1st Strategic Plan of JAMAKON was developed for a five-year period (2010-2015). For developing a comprehensive and inclusive 2nd Cycle Strategic Plan (20162020), JAMAKON started its drafting in 2014. The 2nd Strategic Plan of JAMAKON has targeted the following issues as its priorities: • • • • • 14 • • • • • Protection of Child Rights, Elimination of hazardous Child Labor and Prevention of Early and Forced Marriage; Human Trafficking, Safe Migration and Discrimination and Abuse of Migrant Workers; Impediments to Access to Justice, Particularly for the Poor; Occupational Safety, Wages and Welfare including trade union rights of the Garments Workers; Ensuring Right to Education; Right to Food (ensuring food security, safety and nutrition etc.) Addressing Climate Change and Environmental Justice; Rights of the People of Char Land and newly acquired territories ( former enclave); Social and Religious Cohesion and Harmony; Rights of Older Persons JAMAKON Managed its Staff Development Programs throughout Mechanism, the Year-2014 Violence by State particularly Enforced Disappearance, Torture including Custodial torture, Extra-judicial Killings and Culture of Impunity; Violations of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, including Health Rights, Discrimination against Marginalized and People with Disabilities; Full and prompt implementation of the Compliance of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Accord Focusing on the Land Rights; Violence against Indigenous, Ethnic and Religious Minorities with Special Focus on Land Rights of the Indigenous and other Marginalized and Excluded Communities in the Plan; Women Empowerment and Discrimination against Women, Gender‐based Violence. In 2014, JAMAKON formulated a learning plan for its staff in furtherance of a learning need assessment survey carried out in 2013. The survey identified key improving areas of its staff members in different departments with regard to their responsibilities. The implementation of learning plan is presently in progress. Moreover, in order to improve JAMAKON’s capacity to perform its statutory responsibility, a number of need-based skill development training have been provided to its officials abroad throughout the year. Through these training programmes the concerned officials have not only enriched their knowledge and skills but also allowed their coparticipants to share their experience and thereby facilitated cross-fertilization of new ideas.
