The Commission particularly welcomed the abolition of the Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) system in 2008. In its 2005 Concluding Observations on Australia, the Committee raised concerns about the TPV system, under which people in respect of whom Australia had protection under the Refugee Convention were issued with three-year temporary visas with limited entitlements including no right to family reunion. 7 8
