a mechanism to oversee Thai investments abroad and ensure that Thai businesses respect human rights in their overseas operations.30 Extra-territorial human rights situations that engage obligations of the NHRI’s home State under international human rights law Subject to the law under which the NHRI is established and operates, an NHRI whose functions include advising its government and parliament on actions that should be taken to comply better with its home State’s international human rights obligations is able to provide advice on these kinds of obligations that arise in relation to extra-territorial human rights situations.
