NHRCB: A Faithful
Organization
Hon'ble President of Bangladesh
appointed me as an honorary member
of NHRCB immediately after my
retirement. I felt very happy to get the
appointment. I knew that this
appointment was without salary but I
accepted it happily as I knew that I got
an opportunity to work for people's
rights because this is the National
Human Rights Commission.
We,
the
government
employees do our work for promoting
and protecting human rights. I have
been working in court for 31 years and
witnessed that human rights could be
violated in many ways. Weaks are
being oppressed by the strongs
everywhere. Thus, state initiates
different policies and acts so that
people become aware of their rights.
Human rights can be defined as
protecting rights in many ways.
Initiatives of educational activities,
old-age allowance, health service
management, ensuring Justice all are
human rights works. Then, what is the
necessity of NHRC?
NHRC pays attention to any
kind of human rights violation. It
instructs concerned authorities for
ensuring human rights. It sends
recommendations and also follows up
the
implementation
of
these
recommendations. NHRCB works as
per the NHRC Act 2009.
The Commission has 12
Thematic
Committees.
These
committees are related to ethnic
minorities, transgenders, garments
workers etc. Through the functions of
these committees NHRC not only
sends messages in national level but
also in international level.
I have passed 31 years doing
same job. Now I have got the
opportunity of working in different
levels. I am very pleased for that.
It has been 13 years since the
NHRCB started journey. Despite
limitations in NHRC act, the
Commission has completed lots of
activities during covid period due to
dynamic leadership of the chairman.
We have already formed a national
inquiry committee under the umbrella
of my thematic committee. I got
energy when I saw Hon’ble Chairman
