Section 4.2.
Acting on MEAL results
Once you have reflected on your MEAL learning, consider how you can use what you have learned to improve
your work.
The information you have discussed as a team and recorded learnings can now be used to:
• adjust your MEAL Framework and/or Plan
• manage your activities
• progress your work plans
• assess your progress
• adjust current or future activities, projects or programmes
• communicate to others in your NHRI, to participants and other stakeholders
• develop and strengthen your own practice as an NHRI.
Developing feedback loops is essential to ensure the lessons learned are communicated to those to whom you
are accountable and shared with others who may also be developing and running activities.
MEAL requires reflection and can sometimes become side-lined due to competing priorities and ‘business-asusual’ activities. It takes discipline but is well worthwhile staying committed to the process.
