Introduction
a. The Asia Pacific Forum and Sub Regional Office in West Asia
The Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF) is working towards
a region where everyone can enjoy human rights. We believe in the power of NHRIS
to do this. In partnership, we work to establish new NHRIS, strengthen the
effectiveness and capabilities of existing ones and promote the work of NHRIs
globally.
The Sub Regional Office in West Asia (SRO) supports the implementation of the APF
strategy in the West Asia region by providing a tailored technical and linguistic
assistance in Arabic to the Arabic Speaking members of the APF network.
Our goal as the SRO is also to foster cooperation between the members of the West
Asia region and the APF head office as well as between members of West Asia
themselves.
This way, we aim at being as close as possible to you linguistically, geographically,
and culturally, in order to be your best point of contact and support.
Over the coming year, and in spite of the complexity we are facing, we'll be slowly
rolling out capacity development activities to support the overall strategic goals of the
APF and the specific needs in the region. Additionally, the SRO will focus on specific
needs required during these particular times.
b. TheWebinar on the COVID-19 Management Crisis and Response for Vulnerable
Groups
The purpose of this unique webinar was to provide a platform for the NHRIs of the
West Asia Region to share information about experiences and practices of how
members identified vulnerable groups, prioritized and operationally tailored their
response in managing and responding to the COVID-19 crisis. The webinar was a
collaborative event to reflect and discuss the challenges and opportunities that the
