The National Human Rights Commission strongly believes that human rights and democracy
are inextricably linked. By exercising self-motivated, deliberate and independent voting rights
in a peaceful political environment, a citizen of the country not only contributes to the
development of democratic values in the society or the state but also effectively contributes to
the protection of civil and political rights. It is very important to build a democratic society
where tolerance of people towards different groups and opinions is developed on the one hand
and an environment of peaceful coexistence is ensured for all. It is undeniable that the
government formed on the basis of independent opinion of the people is on the one hand
accountable to the people and responsible for the implementation of its electoral promises, as
well as by maintaining the standards of human rights in the country, it contributes effectively to
the progress of sustainable development, which is very important for the realization of the dream
of a civil, vibrant and advanced Bangladesh with human values.
