Chapter 1 - Report of the Education and Public Relations Group
III. LOOKING FORWARD
The Education and Promotion Division looks forward to actively engaging government
agencies to explore ideas and methods in promoting human rights, as well as in implementing
the Commission’s various recommendations. While recognising that government agencies are
core actors in this, the Commission takes cognizance of the equally important role that the
private sector can play in delivering human rights to the public. It will therefore approach more
groups in the private sector to get involved.
The Commission will embark on new projects involving issues in ageing and children with
learning difficulties. Consultations will be held with the affected groups to understand their
problems, and meetings will be held with stakeholders to reduce and ultimately eliminate
infringements of human rights of these vulnerable groups.
The Public Relations Division will help the Commission in stepping up awareness of human
rights through various channels and activities including exhibitions, compilation of publications
and engagement with the media and the public. There are plans to organise more events and
competitions, and to strengthen the Commission’s corporate brand.
