Working with your Focus Group
Focus Group Session 4 is aimed at exploring and agreeing your high-level actions.
Exercise 4 – Identify your high-level actions (p70)
2.6
Draft the Strategic Framework (Plan on a Page)
Well done! You have completed the most challenging and time-consuming part of the gender
strategy development process – you have agreed, at a high-level, your overall vision, and your
role in achieving that vision, what your priorities are for the period of the Gender Strategy, the
outcomes you are planning to achieve, the actions you will take to achieve those outcomes and
the measures to tell you how well you are doing so.
A Strategy on a Page (Tool 5) is a useful method of laying out this information. It shows at a glance
an overview of the gender strategy in a logical and accessible way and will benefit your next steps.
Figure 7: The benefits of a Strategy on a Page
Communication
As a tool for sharing your strategy with
key stakeholders
Focus
For keeping attention on the big picture and key
priorities rather than getting lost in detail.
Alignment

consistent with strategic priorities
Accountability
As a quick reference to track progress against agreed
outcomes.
Accessibility
To make the strategy understandable and within easy
reach. It can sit on office walls as a reference and be
easily available at meetings.
Engagement
Encourages buy-in and ownership by making the
strategy more approachable and memorable
