Nchr Reports (In Progress) In addition to the aforementioned reports, NCHR is in the process of producing and publishing the following reports and policy briefs; Needs Assessment of Women’s Shelters Dar-ul-Amaan Report NCHR and UN Women are collaborating on a research assessment report on government-run shelter homes in Pakistan. Shelters are essential services for the protection and support of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against women and girls (VAWG). In Pakistan, the objective for establishing a shelter is to provide protection, prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration services to the women living there. In view of the important role that shelters play, this report is being designed and commissioned a study with three key objectives: i) to undertake a comprehensive needs assessment; ii) to prepare an implementation plan for technical capacity-building; and iii) to prepare recommendations for a refurbishment / upgradation plan of identified shelters. The Issue of Bonded Labour in Pakistan Research Paper NCHR and Pakistan Partnership Initiative (PPI) are collaborating to produce an evidence-based report and policy recommendations on bonded labour in Pakistan. The report will focus specifically on agricultural debt bondage in Sindh, though the policy recommendations will be applicable to bonded labour in Pakistan at large. Bonded labour (or debt-bondage) is a widespread socio-economic phenomenon in Pakistan, affecting more than three million people. The bonded labour system, though prevalent in virtually all sectors of the economy, dominates in the rural and agricultural sectors. Socio-economic factors such as general poverty, inflation, lack of economic opportunities and exploitative practices by employers continue to influence the growth of debt-bondage across the province.
