The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights was established pursuant to Article 102 of the Constitution; and The Law of the High Commission for Human Rights (No 53) of 2008.
The High Commission has a broad mandate, comprising human rights investigations, acceptance of individual complains, and education and information on human rights. The High Commission also monitors the international obligation of Iraq, upholding and enforcing human rights law in the country.
