4.1 Participating in international reviews of national reports on ICERD in keeping with international human rights systems 1. Reason for selection In June 2023, the NHRC submitted its independent opinions on Taiwan’s Initial National Report on ICERD. The Commission was required to take part in the international review, submit a parallel response, and handle the necessary follow-up measures based on the IRC’s concluding observations. 2. Significance 1) Participating in the international review for Taiwan’s National Report on ICERD; conducting collaborative research projects for topics discussed in the concluding observations; ensuring ethnic equality and compliance with international human rights standards. 2) Working with IRC members for participation in international parallel meetings, on-site visits, and exchanges regarding the NHRC’s independent opinions and the IRC’s concluding observations on Taiwan’s National Report on ICERD. 3. Expected outcomes Establishing a cooperative network with the IRC through participation in the international review meeting for Taiwan’s National Report on ICERD. 56
