National Human Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea communication channels such as grievance procedures, and the lack of supervision by diplomatic office or KOTRA in host countries and debated about effective ways to address human rights violations perpetrated by Korean companies overseas. ■ 1st and 2nd Human Rights Management Forum in 2014 The Commission hosted the 1st and 2nd Human Rights Management Forum in 2014 to identify corporate social responsibility-oriented management at SMEs, create social consensus on human rights management, and establish objectives and action plans, thereby presenting ways that SMEs can voluntarily implement corporate social responsibility. At the 1st Human Rights Management Forum on June 11, a range of issues were discussed including the scope and cases of corporate social responsibility management at SMEs, differences between big companies and SMEs, challenges at SMEs in implementing corporate social responsibility, ways to encourage SMEs to operate their businesses with social responsibility, having feasible objectives and prioritizing implementing corporate social responsibility in the objectives, and ways to achieve these objectives. The 2nd Human Rights Management Forum was held on November 25 in partnership with Sogang University. At the Forum, the outcomes of survey on the current status of human rights management at SMEs were presented and related institutional improvement measures were discussed. It is notable that policy improvement options were developed by reviewing the practices and challenges of human rights management at SMEs in the Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon. Chapter 1.
