The NHRC learned that the Government approved a draft bill which incorporated the recommendations made by the NHRC defining a child as an individual below the age of 18 years, establishing a separate desk at each policy station to deal with the offences against children, setting up of a juvenile court in each district so that no child would be tried by any court other than the juvenile court. During 2012 the NHRC also advocated for the establishment of the Office of the Child Ombudsman and ratification of OP3-CRC.
