Furthermore, in accordance with Article 25 (5) of the NHRCK Act, the Commission monitored the implementation status of its recommendations to ensure their effectiveness. This included measures to guarantee the right to defense in cases involving the disclosure of personal information, ensuring the right to know in the event of non-indictment decisions, and guaranteeing the right to defense through accompaniment of trusted persons. 7) Compliance ‌ with International Human Rights Treaties and International Cooperation The Commission actively responded to deliberation of international human rights systems in order to effectively promote the domestic implementation of international human rights norms. In relation to the fourth UPR of the UN Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Korea, the Commission played an active role in advocating for its key human rights improvement task proposals to be reflected in the resulting UPR recommendations. Regarding the fifth consideration of the UN Human Rights Committee on the report submitted by the Republic of Korea scheduled in 2023, the Commission proactively responded by analyzing the concluding observations of the UN Human Rights Committee on the human rights situation in other countries, and by seeking expert advice on the government’s implementation of the fourth concluding observations. Additionally, through monitoring of regular sessions of the UN Human Rights Council, the Commission analyzed and shared reports, resolutions, and other human rights issues that are discussed and debated by the Human Rights Council, enabling prompt responses to international human rights policy trends both domestically and internationally.
