The Commission was also encouraged by the positive feedback from both the lecturers and students who participated in the programme. Below is a testimony received from a lecturer who attended the programme: CHAPTER 2 The best part of the programme was the case studies. These case studies exposed students to the real spectrum of potential torture and ill treatment in the Malaysian context. Students are now aware of the relevant rationales and legal principles underpinning CAT and know how to apply these legal principles in any real case of torture and ill treatment. ‘SUHAKAM Bersama Mahasiswa’ programme attended by students of MMU, Malacca campus The Commission looks forward to establishing a closer partnership with these and other universities through various other joint programmes such as field work that seeks to both sensitise the young adults on human rights and encourage them to devote their future work to the promotion and protection of the rights of others and their communities. 6.
