□ An examination ofnationallaws and their revisions as needed, to deal comprehensively
with the prosecution of those who engage in torture and to provide reparation to the
victims of torture.
□ An intensified effort by the Government, national institutions,.NGOs and other
concerned elements of civil society to promote a cultureof noh-violence and respect
for human rights.
□ Greater involvement of all components of civil society, including health, legal and
other professions, as well as NGOs and the media in the fight against torture.
□ Special consideration to practical ways of protecting women and children against
torture.
□ Sensitisation of the political leadership to issues concerning torture.
