CHILD RIGHTS     Coordinator KP participated as guest of honour at the “Youth Art Exhibition” organised by Child Welfare & Protection Commission KP & Blue Veins. NCHR KP team participated in a two-day training workshop to establish district-based referral mechanism on child protection and gender-based violence organised by International Rescue Committee (IRC). NCHR KP team participated in “International Day of the Girl Child 2022” organised by KP Child Protection & Welfare Commission & Blue Veins. NCHR KP in collaboration with Blue Veins, EVAW/G Alliance, Women Parliamentary Caucus KP Assembly and Directorate of Social Welfare Department KP, organised a "Seminar on Child Marriages and Girls Education" at Girls Degree College Kohat district, in observance of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. More than 150 students, teachers, CSO representatives, lawyers, and media personnel participated. MINORITY RIGHTS      NCHR Regional Office KP organised a consultative meeting on “Rights of Minorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”. The meeting was jointly chaired by NCHR Member KP and NCHR Member Minorities in which MPA’s, government officials, representatives of the Muslim , Christian , Sikh , Hindu and Bahai communities and other minority rights activists, representatives of civil societies organisations, NGO’s, lawyers, academia, human rights activists, and representatives of print and electronic media participated. Another meeting was organised by NCHR Regional Office KP with representatives of the minority communities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was chaired by NCHR Member KP and was attended by the representatives of Sikh, Hindu, Christian communities in the province. NCHR team visited the devastated Peshawar Mosque which was the centre of a brutal attack in which hundreds of worshippers lost their lives. A report was compiled on the attack in which “62 people were killed and more than 200 injured. A meeting was held with representatives of minority communities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding various issues around faith-based discrimination. NCHR KP and Musawi jointly conducted a focus group discussion with representatives from religious minority communities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to understand the current situation, including challenges as well as any positive developments, with regards to their access to matrimonial rights. The event aimed to gain a deeper insight into the existing legal and policy framework on marriage rights of religious communities, and to identify any gaps in the laws, policies, and their implementation. The focus group would further support the mapping of the needs of minority communities’ vis-a-vis their access to state institutions and essential services in the context of marriage rights. 66
