CHILDREN’S RIGHTS               Held a meeting with District Child Protection Committee in collaboration with NGO PAHCHAAN at DC Office Kasur. Issues and progress pertaining to child rights and protection were discussed along with future line of action and the role of local level committees in strengthening child protection mechanisms. Attended Provincial Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect organised by PAHCHAAN, UNICEF, and Pakistan Paediatrics Association. Various aspects of child abuse and neglect were briefed along with possible interventions to curb any such neglect and violence against children. Attended a meeting with Members of Child Rights Movement Punjab at the office of PJN, and input was taken from the participants on strengthening child rights in the province. Attended an orientation meeting to strengthen the civil society network for ending violence against children organised by Search for Justice. Attended a meeting with Child Rights Movement Punjab at Peace & Justice Network Office, Lahore. NCHR’s commitment towards child protection was ensured along with a commitment to deal with all kinds of child protection complaints and future collaboration with CSOs for the promotion and protection of child rights. Member Punjab attended an Express Forum organised by Search for Justice to discuss at length the issue of child labour, and NCHR’s commitment toward child protection ahead of International Child Labour Day Regional Office Punjab and AWAZ-CDS jointly arranged a consultation on Punjab Free & Compulsory Education Act 2014. Regional Office Punjab observed International Child Labour Day in collaboration with Search for Justice at Al-Hamra Arts Council, Lahore where relevant government departments, media personnel and more than 100 children participated. NCHR Punjab organised a consultative workshop to end violence against children in collaboration with Search for Justice. NCHR Regional Office Punjab in collaboration with National Commission for Justice & Peace organised a consultative meeting on Early Child Forced Marriages. Attended a Consultation on Home Based Workers Act, 2021 organised by Home Net Pakistan. Attended a Consultation on Child Sexual Abuse organised by PAHCHAAN. An event to celebrate World Children Day (20th November) was jointly organised by NCHR and Search for Justice. Several meetings with Justice Project Pakistan to discuss the issue of torture at jails and develop SOPs/manuals based on Mandela and Bangkok Rules. 56
