सव भव तु सिखनः ु Chapter 8 International Cooperation 8.1 NHRC, India is fully complied with Paris Principles and has a prominent posi on at interna onal forums including both regional as well as global forums. It has been an instrumental member of Global Alliance of Na onal Human Rights Ins tu ons (GANHRI), which is one of the largest Human Rights Network in the globe, represen ng more than 110 Na onal Human Rights Ins tu ons (NHRIs). NHRC India has been accredited with “A” status by the Sub Commi ee on Accredita on (SCA) of GANHRI for its full compliance with Paris Principles and it con nues to retain this from 1998 onwards. The Secretary General, NHRC India, holds the posi on of Chair of GANHRI Finance Commi ee. NHRC is also one of the founding members of Asia Pacific Forum (APF), which is a regional coali on of NHRIs of Asia Pacific Region and contributes an amount of 1,50,000 USD per annum to APF. Chairperson, NHRC, is the member of the APF Governance Commi ee. 8.2 NHRC has been playing an ac ve role in its engagements and interac ons with GANHRI, APF and other interna onal forums like Human Rights Council (HRC), UN Working Groups, Office of the United Na ons High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), treaty bodies, etc. The Commission has been proac vely par cipa ng in various internaonal conferences, workshops, training programmes as well as providing inputs to the dra resolu ons, ques onnaires of Special Rapporteurs of UN and other reports, documents throughout the year. Despite COVID-19 and its constraints, the Commission has strengthened its interna onal engagements and made its presence felt at various pla orms on the issues of Human Rights. 8.3 Coopera on with the APF of NHRIs: The APF of NHRIs is the leading regional human rights organisa on in the Asia Pacific region, established in 1996. It is a member-based organisa on that supports the establishment and strengthening of independent Chapter 8 - International Cooperation NHRIs in the region. Its goal is to protect and promote human rights of people of the Asia Pacific region through a network of member ins tu ons. The Na onal Human Rights Commission of India is one of its founding members. 8.4 Coopera on with the GANHRI: The GANHRI is a representa ve body of NHRIs established for the purpose of crea ng and strengthening NHRIs, which are in conformity with the Paris Principles. It performs this role through encouraging interna onal coordina on of joint ac vi es and co-opera on among these NHRIs, organising interna onal conferences, liaison with the United Na ons and other internaonal organisa ons and, where requested, assis ng governments to establish a Na onal Ins tu on. NHRC, India is a GANHRI member with 'A' status accredita on for the fourth consecu ve term of five years that are 1999, 2006, 2011 and 2017. 8.5 NHRC par cipa on in other interna onal mee ngs and seminars • Shri Rajiv Jain, Member, and Shri Devendra Kumar Singh, Secretary General, a ended the interac ve dialogue sessions of 50th session of Human Rights Council in Geneva and Paris from 20- 24 June 2022.
