OUR HUMAN RIGHTS PRIORITIES
During the performance period of this strategic plan, the NHRC will pursue eight strategic
objec�ves that it believes will be crucial in realizing increased enjoyment of human rights and
fundamental freedoms by all. These strategic objec�ves are as follows:
SP1: Promote a culture of human rights and fundamental freedom in society.
SP2: Promote and protect the rights, advancement, and interests of women and children by
crea�ng all favourable condi�ons through the following gender mainstreaming approach.
SP3: Promote and uphold the rights of le�-behind people and communi�es, par�cularly
ethnic and religious minori�es, gender diverse people and communi�es, persons with
disabili�es, elderly people , and other vulnerable people and communi�es, and CHT affairs.
SP4: Entrench and promote prac�ces of human rights principles, norms, and standards by
all public ins�tu�ons, including the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
SP5: Secure appropriate redress and accountability for human rights viola�ons and respect
for the rule of law.
SP6: Address the impacts of climate change from a human rights perspec�ve.
SP7: Advance sustainable development through promo�ng responsible business prac�ces
and safeguarding human rights from the nega�ve impact of business opera�ons, workers’
rights, and migrant workers issues.
SP8: Enhance efficiency, effec�veness, and sustainability of the Commission.
