Effective Measures
Encouraging all the citizens of the country about upcoming elections and
providing necessary information about it.
Effectively follow the Code of Conduct of Political Parties and Candidates
in National Elections 2008 and properly campaign and implement it in
constituencies.
Arrange continuous discussions with the civil society, electoral
government, local administration, law enforcement agencies, media to
create favorable environment to exercise and protection of fundamental
rights of citizens and to hold and take initiative to implement the decisions
taken in a coordinated manner.
In the past national elections, reviewing the law and order situation in the
constituencies, monitoring/ inspecting the level of political tolerance of the
potential candidates and taking into consideration the local context of the
exercise of basic civil rights, taking effective and coordinated initiatives
based on the constituencies. Providing necessary information and
instructions to the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard.
Creating an atmosphere of trust among the ethnic, religious and other
backward communities living in the constituency, especially women,
disabled and elderly persons.
To maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the area during the period from the
end of the campaigning period of the election candidates to the
commencement of the polling process and giving proper instructions to the
local administration, law and order enforcement agencies in this regard.
To take special vigilance measures in remote constituencies especially in
Chittagong Hill Tracts and Char and Howr areas so that no candidate can
spread influence and if necessary arrange for helipads and helicopters for
Chittagong Hill Tracts and speedboats and motorbikes for Howr and Char
areas respectively.
To create an environment of confidence so that all registered political
parties can participate in the upcoming national elections.
Ensuring a peaceful environment conducive for casting votes by voters.
Activate ‘Reactive Team’ formed by Law Enforcement Agencies in
vulnerable electoral areas so that the team can take immediate legal steps
to control any unavoidable situation.
Always keep the LEAs active to strongly control any possible violence
during election Period by the rival candidates or their supporters.
Create conducive environment for ethnic and religious groups for casting
their votes in a peaceful way and take precautionary measures and instruct
LEAs so that no occurrence can be held during their movement for casting
votes.
Controlling use of mobile phones inside vote centers during election
period.
