The police officers can catalyze the process of change by acting suo motu(on its own motion) in this regard.37 They must enforce the law, uphold human rights, use no more than the minimum force than is necessary and act without fear or favour. Their performance can make a huge impact in changing the ground reality of a resurgent India. And this is an area too important to allow the politicians and bureaucrats, to continue to interfere. Any initative taken towards this end is sure to provoke a positive response from the people. The help and the cooperation from the people would overflow.
