Implementation steps
Activity 1
1. The teacher asks the students to form groups of 6 to 8 and to appoint a group leader.
2. The teacher writes the rules as in Appendix 1 on the blackboard.
3. The teacher distributes the mahjong paper to each group and asks the students to
write their views on each of the rules: whether they are fair, relevant and appropriate
or not, and the reason why they think so. The group representative presents the results
of their discussion.
Appendix 1
CLASS RULES
1. All students must respect one another and practise the ‘Golden Rule’. The ‘Golden
Rule’ is the principle whereby a person treats another like he/she wishes to be
treated.
2. All students must help one another.
3. All students must submit their homework on time.
4. All students must raise their hand first if they wish to talk and speak only when
allowed by the teacher.
5. Students must not talk to one another in class if the purpose is to question the power
of the teacher.
6. Students must bring RM10 a day to school and hand over some of that money to
the teacher for school necessities.
7. Students cannot be involved in creating class rules and must only follow the rules
set by the teacher.
8. All the students in the class will be punished if any of the students violate the class
rules.
