Amended S. 376 (2) to rape committed by a member of the armed forces
deployed in an area by the Central or a State Government in such area.
The amended section also considers rape of women below the age of
16 to be aggravated and hence enhanced punishment for it.
vi.
Deleted judicial discretion to provide less than minimum sentence.
vii.
Added S. 376D as a special provision for gang rape with a higher
punishment. They shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a
term which shall not be less than twenty years, but which may extend
to life which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of that person’s
natural life, and with fine.
viii.
Added S. 376A for rape that caused death or persistent vegetative
state of the victim, with death penalty as a punishment.
ix.
Amended S. 376C to include the abusing of a position of authority or
fiduciary relationship to induce any woman in his custody to or charge
to have sexual intercourse with him.
x.
Added S. 376E for repeat offenders with stricter punishment.

Code of Criminal Procedure
i.
Amended S.54A to include that if the person identifying the person in
a TIP is mentally or physically disabled, the process of identification
shall take place under the supervision of a Judicial Magistrate who
shall take appropriate steps to ensure that such person identifies the
person arrested using methods. Further, if the person identifying the
person arrested is mentally or physically disabled, the process shall
be videographed.
ii.
Amended S. 154(1) to include that recording of FIR related to certain
offences against women be recorded by a woman police officer.
iii.
Amendment S. 160, proviso, No male person under the age of 15 or
above the age of 65 or a woman or a mentally or physically disabled
person, shall be required to attend at any place other than the place in
which such male person or woman resides.
iv.
Amendment in S.161(3) in 2nd proviso, that, statement of a woman
