children with disabilities are appreciated for their commitment to protect and care for their children. At the local level, there are many private and voluntary societies supporting the circumstances of these families. They also support the marriage of persons with disabilities through official reports, while others with disabilities are reluctant to marry under the pretext of inability to bear the burdens of family. The Provisional Personal Status Law of 2010 stipulates in Article (12) that the judge may authorize the marriage of persons with insanity or mental disabilities if it is proven by an official medical report that the marriage is for his interest. With regard to reproductive health and family planning, although there are many childhood and family centers in the Kingdom, it is noted that women in remote areas refrain from visiting these centers, either because of ignorance or because of the economic factor, although these centers are affiliated to the governmental sector. After the preservation of the fertility of girls with mental disabilities became a controversial issue in Jordan, the HCAPD implemented awareness and training workshops in different regions of the Kingdom, in partnership with civil society institutions, to raise awareness of the importance of respecting the privacy and dignity of girls with mental disabilities. In this connection, the following observations were recorded: 1. Some persons with disabilities live within their families, but in isolation from society due to fear of social stigma. 2. Some violations relating to physical and sexual abuse and denial of inheritance by some families to children with disabilities were recorded. 62
