other hand, there are two centers owned by the voluntary sector, the first is the Al-Amal Center for Special education in Amman, and the other is the Dar Al-Mahaba in Al-Ruseifah. 2. Family members with disabilities suffer from the lack of courage and/ or desire on the part of family to exercise their right to marry and start a family. 3. The Ministry of Social Development provides financial support for poor families through the National Aid Fund, based on family income and number of its members. The Government provides, through the Ministry, free housing to those proven to be in need. 4. In the case of severe and multiple disabilities, the requirements of their daily life are expensive, which leads to an additional financial burden on the family and makes it poor. 5. The inadequacy of the salary received by families from the Ministry of Social Development and the National Aid Fund, especially if there is more than one person with a disability within the family. Fifth: Awareness-raising The NCHR commenced raising awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities since its establishment, which coincided with the work on drafting the International Convention relating to their rights. The work commenced with associations and institutions working in the field of disability, such as the Nazik Hariri Center and the Landmine Survivors Network, for the dissemination of the new concepts of the Convention, where the local press addressed this work with great interest.
