Regarding the presence of Rohingya refugees in the Aceh Province region who were rejected by the people of Aceh, the Commission carried out monitoring from November-December 2023. Furthermore, the Commission is consistent in continuing to encourage the acceleration of the ratification of the PPRT Bill. The ratification of this legislative product is a strategic step to protect domestic workers who are vulnerable to exploitation and violence. This monitoring focuses on aspects of handling refugees and the social dynamics that occur. In addition, the Commission made recommendations to the National Police to strengthen law enforcement and collaborate with security authorities in ASEAN and Interpol to eradicate syndicates and break the chain of human smuggling. The Commission also recommends revising the Presidential Decree on Handling Overseas Refugees, especially the authority of the Provincial/ City/Regency Government in terms of the use of regional budgets, and strengthening coordination with the central government.
