HUMAN RIGHTS MODULE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL Reference notes for the teacher: i. The teacher must remind the students to be mindful of their safety while performing the activity. ii. The teacher may use the following questions as a guide:  What are your feelings about the activity that was carried out?  Did you experience any difficulty in performing the activity with your physical disability?  What type of challenge did you face that was caused by your physical constraint and how did you overcome it?  Did your group members help you or did you have an opportunity to help your group members?  Think about your daily activities. What is the most difficult activity to carry out if you were really disabled?  Think about the place where you hang out with your friends (inside or outside the school). What needs to be done to enable a PWD to move about freely?  Think about the route from your home to the school. What will you do to make it PWD-friendly?  What are the existing facilities to assist a PWD?  What can you do to ensure that a PWD does not feel marginalised?  Should PWD be made objects of mockery or jokes? iii. Additional information:  Definition of discrimination: Treatment that is not fair and equal of people of different categories, be it race, descent, colour, religion, etc. iv. Among the articles in the CRC that are relevant to the activity:  Non-discrimination (Article 2, CRC)  Right of the disabled child to education (Article 23, CRC) 14
