General to all NHRI projects, programs, activities and functions Planning and design A gender mainstreamed NHRI … Possible actions • Mandates gender considerations for inclusion in external work and approval processes. • Adopt a gender mainstreaming strategy related to the NHRI’s external work. • Includes an analysis of gender roles and implications in its planning. • Review existing projects, programs and activities to ensure a gender lens is applied to all planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes. Address gaps that are identified. • Includes the views and preferences of diverse genders in its planning and design. • Seeks internal and external gender perspectives in its planning processes. Implementation • Aims to redress gender imbalances and uphold and strengthen gender equality in projects, programs and functions. • Has staff with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to gender mainstream their work. Monitoring and evaluation • Monitors and evaluates the gender impact of its programs/projects and functions. • Can demonstrate that it contributes to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls through its programs, projects and functions. 40 • Apply a gender lens to forward planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes. • Allocate resources specifically for gender work.27
