Members of Thematic Committee on Business and Human Rights and Corporate Social Responsibility Meeting of this committee was held on 15 March 2021. NHRCB Full Time Member and Chair of this committee Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed presided over the meeting. He made a presentation on how the business activities are related with human rights. Aroma Dutta, MP; Dr. Rubana Hoque, President, BGMEA; Sanjeeb Drong, General Secretary, Bangladesh Adibasi Forum, Meheruna Chowdhury, Business and Human Rights Specialist, HRP-UNDP attended the meeting. The highlights of discussions: • Businesses must be related to human rights and businesses should be aligned with international human rights standards. Labor’s welfare should be one of the main goals of business entities. Without this business organizations can’t make profits and sustainable development can’t be achieved. • Taking Free, Prior and Informed Consent must be ensured before taking any project that will affect livelihoods of ethnic people.
