Annual Report 2016 Inspection at Victim Support Center On 30 August 2016, NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque along with Commission members and officers visited Victim Support Center, Tejgaon, Dhaka and talked to DC, DMP and concerned officers of the Center. After the visit, he also briefed the media. During the visit NHRC team came to know that delay of sending medical report caused delay in the disposal of the complaints. NHRC Chairman pointed out that residential doctor should be available at the center and at least one Victim Support Center should be established in every district. He concluded that NHRC would surely send recommendations to concerned ministries and organizations in order to ensure better service of the victim support center. Inspection at Tampaco Foils Industry, Tongi On 11 September 2016, NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque along with Full Time Member Md. Nazrul Islam and other two officers visited the factory inferno that occurred at Tampaco Foils Industry, Tongi, Gazipur. They inspected the spot, talked with the family members of victims, inhabitants of the area, Superintendent of Police, Gazipur and different agencies those were trying to control the fire and finding out the dead bodies of the ill-fated workers from the debris. NHRC Chairman said to the media that they would form a high level inquiry committee consisting of representatives from the relevant agencies. The committee would make spot inquiry and discuss with stakeholders to identify the reasons of such a big incident. The findings of the inquiry committee would be forwarded to the relevant agencies with the view that they would take every step to maintain the safety and security of the workers and ensure the compliance of the labor laws. Accordingly a Committee was formed with Md. Nazrul Islam, Full Time Member, NHRC along with other members of the Commission and members from relevant agencies. After visiting spot and finishing inquiry the Committee submitted report. 14
